Mr Coene, who is also governor of Belgium's central bank, said that while the
state of Greece's
economy was improving, progress continued to be "very slow".
"It's clear that we are not yet at the end of the Greek problem," Mr
Coene told Belgian radio station La Première. "We will need to
make further efforts, certainly once, perhaps twice more. We will see how
the situation develops."
However, Mr Coene sounded more optimistic that there was political will to
support Greece's recovery.
Rollover for sound
"The problem at the start was about the willingness of other countries to
help. This has been resolved by the governments and also by the ECB," he
said.
"Restoring financial sustainability and economic viability in Greece is now
very much down to politics and the willingness of official lenders to grant
further support measures and meaningful debt relief," economists at
Citigroup wrote in a note on Wednesday.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/10302134/Greece-may-need-two-more-bail-outs-says-Coene.html
